Facial Approximation of Michaela Archangela do Ceo. In 2015, archaeological excavations conducted on the eastern side of the Convent of Jesus cloister, led to the discovery of 13 skeletons, one of which was found in a peculiar posture. Covered with lime, the remains were positioned in a fetal stance. Upon anthropological examination, evidence of osteoarthrosis, complete tooth loss during life, and a degenerative illness were identified.
The Convent Chronicle written by Ana Maria do Amor Divino provides details regarding a nun named Michaela Archangela do Ceo, outlining the various afflictions she endured. This information supports the hypothesis that the human remains likely pertain to this specific sister. Her facial approximation was commissioned by the Câmara Municipal de Setúbal, Portugal.
